Silver & Gold Awards
The College’s thriving Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme enables students to develop their physical skills, knowledge, leadership and teamwork.
These qualities are highly sought after by universities and employers.
Students demonstrate perseverance, resilience and determination to complete a range of challenges and expeditions and are supported every step of the way by our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh’s Award leader, Richard Bailey.
We offer all students the opportunity to sign up to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver or Gold award when they join the College. Don’t worry if you haven’t completed your Bronze award, as you can go straight to Silver.
This year, more than 200 Sir John Deane’s students are working towards their Silver and/or Gold Awards.
There are four sections you need to complete to achieve the Silver or Gold award. They are:
- Volunteering
- Physical
- Skills
- Expedition (4 days/3 nights)
- Residential (5 days and 4 nights) (Gold)
