Our Community
Ranked amongst the highest achieving sixth form colleges in the country and rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, Sir John Deane’s is an exciting and inspirational place to work. We offer a generous benefit’s package, combined with a unique sense of community, dedicated colleagues and high calibre students.
Meet Our People
Teaching, mentors and business support roles
Teaching is at the very heart of the College and, as demonstrated by our impressive results, we are at the cutting edge of teaching and learning approaches, which allow our students to thrive under the instruction of our dedicated and passionate teachers. Our culture of self improvement and professional opportunities for development mean that teachers who join Sir John Deane’s can expect to grow and progress.
The College is supported by a number of specialist non-teaching roles, both curriculum facing mentors who deliver learning and pastoral support and expert business support professionals in departments such as finance, marketing and personnel.
Early Career Teaching
The College has a highly effective specialist ECT programme to support ECTs run by our talented Deputy Principal. ECTs will be mentored by experienced instructional coaches, including members of the Senior Leadership Team, have regular support meetings and work closely with their departments to help them develop their practice and will benefit from a reduced timetable to enable them to attend training and development sessions.
Career Development
As an education establishment we understand the value of both career and professional development.
We are committed to ensuring that when all colleagues join the College they take part in a tailored induction programme. New starters are supported throughout their first year and beyond with regular meetings, support and development sessions.
Colleagues receive support to develop their skills, knowledge and experience including bespoke development opportunities, mentoring and coaching to allow them to progress their careers.
Being part of The Sir John Brunner Foundations means access to our in-house National Professional Qualification programme to support the development of future leaders.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
It is important that our students see representation in our staff body, as role models and professionals to aspire to. We encourage applications from individuals from BAME backgrounds as we know we are underrepresented in this area in particular.
We promote equality of opportunity and are accredited with the disability confident employer symbol which shows our commitment to the employment of disabled people.
We are proud to say explicitly that we are an anti-racist College, which works as a community to embrace the diversity of both our students and our colleagues.
